„For some time Maśluszczak has painted in another way. People have different eyes and hold other objects in other hands. Their eyes, hands, objects and clothing are similar to “real” eyes and hands – to the real world. They are not real – the literal world, brought to the canvas, would mean the death of art. They are memories of the real world. Perhaps a triviality, but one that, processed by the memory, like in a dream, takes on new meanings, richer, and in any case – enigmatic.”
„The figures in his paintings now are deep in thought, embarrassed or sad. They stare at other sad figures in concentration. They try to understand and probably sympathize with these others although they are completely helpless.
Painted people are not any more stupid, uglier or worse than the artist. They are more restrained. If, let’s say, these figures painted the artist, they wouldn’t lay on the paint so thick, so shamelessly, as he has done for some time, making excuses for himself based on age and a natural longing for the protuberance of the world.”
